Westwood was born in Edgware, North London in 1963 (a Virgo) and but for most
of his life has lived south of the river Thames. He is a professional
photographer who, whilst having spent most of his life in South London, travels
internationally to pursue his specific interest in erotic images and colourful
culture and "adventure". Ben explains, "For me, my interest is in the "ultra feminine", in everything that separates man from woman. My "fetish" is the ideal of "Ladies and Gentlemen" - completely different from each other, yet fitting together "ever so nicely!" - like Ying and Yang. The key to that expression, visually, is in the styling. I like there to be many layers, metaphorically speaking, to go through between a ladylike object of attraction, and a carnal gynaecological examination, rather like the experience of unwrapping a present (the wrapping inspires the imagination and the imagination colours the view of the present). It works inversely as well, as in the difference between your Christmas tree before and after the decorations have gone on. - I do like Christmas!".
